Dirk Nowitzki’s wife Jessica Olsson brings some additional culture to the German born-Dallas adopted son.
When the couple married in 2012, rumors persisted that the couple had two separate ceremonies. The first, a traditional African ceremony for Jessica’s mother’s family and another in Germany. Dirk confirmed the engagement during an interview with the BaD (Bob and Dan) show on Dallas SportsRadio 1310. This came on the heels of a less than awesome romance for the big man, causing many in Dallas to celebrate his off-the-court success.

As we mentioned, Dirk Nowitzki’s wife Jessica Olsson has some culture going on. Her mother is Kenyan and her father is from Sweden. She first met Dirk in 2010 before officially tying the knot at Dirk’s palatial estate in Preston Hollow, Texas. The couple has two children. Daughter Malaika was born in July, 2013 and son Max was born in March, 2015. Dirk was asked about Max in an interview with the Dallas News about his son, saying
Maximus is doing great. Both kids are healthy. We’re lucky and blessed. We’ll just wait and see how these two go. It’s incredible. Fatherhood is amazing. We’ll see if a third one will eventually join. For now, we’re happy and getting adjusted. From one to two is a huge step that you don’t actually realize. We’re loving it. We’ll just have to see what the future brings.
To be clear, Dirk did clarify that it’s just Max, and Maximus is just a nickname for the kid.
Despite his prowess on the court, until Dirk Nowitzki’s wife entered the picture, Dirk hadn’t always had the same success off it. Remember his crazy, convict ex girlfriend/fiancee who was rumored pregnant with Dirk’s spawn, but then turned out she was lying? Yeah, us too.
