Hilarious Patriots fan trolls Drake Maye by requesting him to sign a jersey of Mac Jones

The atmosphere in Foxborough is one filled with optimism and hope. It is the beginning of a new chapter in the history of the franchise under a young head coach and a talented rookie quarterback. A record better than their last season showing would be progress and improvement in the eyes of fans.

Drake Maye comes with a lot of things, potential, talent, and skills. Another character trait he has is a sense of humor! The quarterback was faced with an awkward request by a fan earlier at the team’s preseason opener. A fan asked him to put his John Hancock over a jersey, that should seem to be a normal request, right? However, the fan handed him a Mac Jones jersey!

Maye was surprised by this move and did not know how to react, but he was a great sport. He took the jersey and signed it, he could not hold himself back from laughing as he signed the jersey. The reason the fan got Maye to sign a Mac Jones jersey was because the latter wore number 10 for the Patriots and this season, the rookie QB will be rocking the same number.

HILARIOUS: #Patriots rookie Drake Maye signing an old Mac Jones jersey.

He was laughing very loudly

Drake Maye and the New England Patriots beat the Carolina Panthers 17-3 in their preseason opener

Maye did not get a lot of reps during the Patriots pre-season opener against Carolina. It was primarily Bailey Zappe who started and played for most of the game. Maye had 19 yards and completed 2 of his 3 throws. Zappe put up a respectable showing as he threw 12 of his 20 passes and had 108 yards.

The quarterback battle has been between Drake Maye and Bailey Zappe for the entire off-season. However, Jacoby Brissett and Joe Milton III got a few reps as well with the latter scoring a touchdown and throwing for 54 yards. The pre-season victory was historic for the team, it was the first game in over 24 years that they won without Bill Belichick as the head coach.

Despite being limited in action, Maye loved the experience.

I think it was awesome, first of all, to get out there in the stadium. It was my first time since I think the day after I got drafted being in the stadium, other than the walkthrough yesterday.

Head coach Jerod Mayo intends to keep Maye limited in action through the pre-season as his offensive line is not yet 100 percent owing to injuries. Despite this being a pre-season victory, it marks a positive start for the Patriots after a season that witnessed the team put up one of its worst showings in over two decades.
