Meridian 12U baseball team headed to Cal Ripken World Series
MERIDIAN, Idaho (CBS2) — A Meridian 12U All Star baseball team is headed to the Cal Ripken 12U Major70 World Series in Missouri.
The team defeated Black Hills, WA to win the 2021 Pacific Northwest Regional Championship title on Saturday. The team now leaves for the World Series on Aug. 4.
"Going to the World Series representing Idaho and the PNW in and of itself is a huge accomplishment and a dream come true but coming off a COVID year where all Babe Ruth / Cal Ripken baseball was canceled this year has a whole other level of significance," said a spokesperson for the team.
The team has a record of 145-28 over the past four years. They have won four State Championships, two Pacific Northwest Regional Championships, and finished 4th in the 2019 10U Cal Ripken World Series.
"This incredible group endured having a full season of baseball canceled as a result of COVID yet they never lost their commitment to their Dream," the spokesperson said.
To support the team, you can donate money through their GoFundMe.
