Monica is the daughter of Nancy and Paul Brokaw. Her father invented the first flame-resistant car wax. Her maternal grandparents were Irish immigrants. Monica has two children with her former husband Tom Potter; and a daughter with her husband, orthopedic surgeon Daniel Christopher Allison.
Monica’s paternal grandfather was Paul Ely Brokaw (the son of Ernest Franklin Brokaw and Myrtle Belle Ely). Paul was born in Michigan.
