Rainbow Six Siege Jackal Guide: Best Loadout, Gadget, Tips, and more

Publish date: 2024-07-05

Ubisoft’s tactical shooter Rainbow Six Siege has grown massively over the years. The game had reported over 75 million registered players back in July, and more players are still joining every day.

To make lives a litter easier for new players, we’ve prepared a guide on one of the most popular and powerful operators- Jackal.

Jackal got added to Rainbow Six Siege with Operation: Velvet Shell back in Y2S1. As roaming around the map is very essential to counter an attacking team, Jackal brought a unique gadget to stop the roaming defenders on their track. Here are some of the things you should know when picking this 2-Speed 2-Health Attacker.

Jackal Operator Guide

Best Weapon Loadout

Unlike the newly introduced operators, Jackal joined Team Rainbow with three different weapon options. The C7E Assault rifle, PDW9 Sub-machine gun, and the ITA12L shotgun. Out of the bat, we will tell you to almost never pick the ITA12L shotgun, as it will limit your gunfight options. And Jackal already has another shotgun in his secondary loadout, so your choices should mainly focus on the AR or SMG.

We will recommend you to pick the C7E AR, as its damage-per-second (DPS) is very high and recoil is quite low. The PDW9 SMG is also a good choice, especially considering the magazine size of 50. So if you prefire a lot, then bring the PDW9 with you, and like the AR it also has an easy-to-control recoil pattern, making it perfect for beginners.

As his secondary weapon of choice, Jackal can bring either a shotgun or a pistol. We will highly recommend you pick the shotgun, as it will allow you to create vertical holes or quickly break hatches without needing anyone’s help.

Secondary Gadget

For his secondary gadget, Jackal can pick either Smoke grenades or a Claymore. Here the choice is up to you, as on certain rounds, you might decide to bring Smokes, and on others, a claymore might come handier.

Unique Ability

Jackal’s unique gadget is called the ‘Eyenox Model III‘. Jackal can use this Eyenox visor to scan enemy footprints which then pings the exact position of that enemies’ location at regular intervals. These location pings are visible to the entire attacking team.

The color of the footprints depends on how old they are, ranging from red (newer) to blue (older). To make Jackal less annoying for defenders, Ubisoft reworked his gadget by reducing the number of pings based on their age. So for example, if a footprint’s color is red, then scanning it will initially mark the location of the enemy, which will then update for a further 4 times.

Jackal can only scan defenders’ footprints up to three times per round, and you won’t be able to scan each defender more than once. After scanning, Jackal can also see which operator left the footprint, and this info could prove very valuable to your teammates.

Should you pick Jackal?

Jackal is one of the best operators to pick when you are trying to clear roaming defenders quickly on a map. His weapons and loadout are also very strong and easy to use, so we highly recommend you to pick him.

Tips:

(i) Turn on the Eyenox gadget only while trying to scan footprints, as it might obscure your vision in gunfights. (Mute jammers will also prevent you from using the visor)

(ii) The defenders will become aware once they are Jackal-tracked, so don’t solo-rush carelessly expecting an easy kill.

(iii) Caveira can prevent Jackal’s tracking ability by using her ‘silent steps’, so be extra careful.
