Twin Falls Starbucks may be first in Idaho to unionize

Employees at a Twin Falls Starbucks may be looking to unionize.

The 1928 Bridgeview Boulevard employees plan on filing a formal petition for a union election with the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) election in the near future, and are joining the Starbucks Workers United movement, which already includes workers at over 175 locations across 28 states.

It would be the Gem State's first Starbucks to make the move.

In a letter e-mailed early Thursday morning to Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz and signed by the store’s employees, Cottonwood Heights workers wrote:

“We are forming this union not out of spite, but out of respect for all baristas across the country. Our partners at store #22434 have invested great amounts of time and energy into ensuring our store runs smoothly and effectively. We believe that in order to uphold this, we must have livable wages, job security, and above all else to have our voices heard in this company.
